I reviewed HTML and wrote client side JavaScript for the site.

BUPA. Bloomsbury Way, London WC1 Jan 98 - Jan 00

BUPA. Bloomsbury Way, London WC1 Jan 98 - Jan 00

Internet/Intranet developer. The principle technologies involved were ASP, IIS4, JavaScript, DHTML, SQL and MSSQL server 7 and HTML. I worked on the following projects:

Pre-Authorisation for hospitals. The aim of the project was to enable receptionists at hospitals and medical centres to retrieve patient insurance details, consultant and treatment details for impairments from a database. Sending this information off to a decision engine permitted the user to continue the request or not. I was involved in creating a web interface for the product: I wrote ASP scripts which both inserted and retrieved data to the oracle database and decision engine via a third party object broker. The interface was DHTML controlled.
Contact BUPA (www.bupa.co.uk/contact/). The aim of this web site component was to enable users to determine what type of client they were, and so which products were available to them. For each product we needed to determine which enquiry types were available and contact details for sales or service aspects of that business. The second phase of the project enabled the various business units to track the progress and status of a user enquiry. The whole project was driven by ASP and all data was stored in MSSQL Server 7. The success of this component led to it being adapted to the Intranet and used as the main processing engine for all BUPA telephone inquiries.

I also produced JavaScript, DHTML and ASP for BUPA websites. www.bupa.com, www.bupa.co.uk

The Guardian's New Media Lab: Web developer Jun 96 - Dec 97

My original duties were HTML with some additional JavaScript and PERL on the BT touchpoint project, a high street information service for which the Guardian provided a listings service. I played a multitask development role on major Guardian websites from the period including shiftcontrol, election and eurosoccer.com. Roles included architecture, PERL CGI scripting, JavaScript, HTML. I was involved in updating and maintaining the Guardian's other websites. Other regular duties included implementing forums on websites, image manipulation using Photoshop, and image processing by scripting Debabelizer. I was involved in the planning stage of the Guardian websites.
